OBTAINING THE PRIZE

In 1 Corinthians 9:24,

Paul compares the Christian life to a lifelong race. Just as one runner receives the top prize in a marathon, so every Christian should run in a way that they may obtain the prize. Paul told Timothy that he has “fought the good fight, finished the race, and have kept the faith.” As a result, he would receive a prize, the “crown of righteousness,” which the Lord would not only give to him, but also to “all who have loved his appearing (2 Timothy 4:7-8).” It takes a lot of work preparing for Heaven. After becoming a Christian, one must endure temptation, be approved, and continue to live faithfully unto death.

Let us study Philippians chapter 3 to see how Paul instructs us how to “finish the course” so that we might obtain the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus
