Text: Jeremiah 29:1-11
God Wants His People to Have a Hope and a Future
Jeremiah 29: 1-11
Wouldn’t it be something If during the most distressed time in your life, when you were sad and worried, you received a letter from God?
And if in that letter, God told you:
- What to do.
- What to watch out for.
- What He was thinking about your situation.
- What He was going to do for you!
Even if you knew it was going to take a while, you would have something to look forward to. Every time you felt down about your situation or worry started to set in, you could confidently say that something good was coming. A letter like that could give you hope.
This morning, we are going to read together a letter from God written to His people while they were in complete distress and sadness. The letter is found in Jeremiah chapter 29 verses 1 -11.
One of the most beautiful lines in the letter is Jeremiah 29:11 where God tells them the following.
“11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Church and friends, this letter had to lift the spirits of God’s people then and it can teach and encourage us today.
Let’s read it together this morning.
