Text: Mark 9:20-24
Lord I Believe, Help My Unbelief
Mark 9:20-24
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall [b]direct your paths.
It is our endeavor to trust God’s promises and His word to guide our lives. But, if we will be honest, when we have to make critical decisions about things truly precious or personal, a little doubt can creep into our thoughts. We may think, “Can I really do this God’s way and have it work out for the best?”. We may think, “If I follow His Word can He really deliver on the promise?”.
This morning, I want to encourage and strengthen anyone who has had in the past , is having in the present, or will have in the future a little doubt mixed into their belief.
We will share the story of a man who makes what some consider a nonsensical, hypocritical statement: “Lord I believe, help my unbelief”.
His story is found in Mark 9:14-29, and I will submit to you that he is neither nonsensical nor hypocritical. He is just human. But, embedded in his story is the reason that we can trust God with the precious and personal areas of our life and know that following God leads to a home in heaven. Let’s study together.
