Where Your Heart Has A Home

God’s Love For Us: The Prodigal Son

Luke 15:11-12

In our Wednesday night Bible class, we have been studying the parables of Jesus.  I have truly enjoyed our study.

When you are trying to get the most out of the study of a parable, we do a three things:

  1. Understand the Context. The context provides one of the biggest clues to opening our understanding of the parable.
  2. Identify the characters of the parable. The characters in the parable usually symbolize people.  Knowing who He is talking about helps open our understanding.
  3. Identify the main point of the Parable.  Most parables have a central message.

These are the fundamentals of parable.  But once we work through the fundamentals, then the beauty and power of the parable begins to open to us.

So, that is what we will do this morning with one of the most well-known parables of Jesus. People in an outside of the church know the story of the young son that took his inheritance headed to the far country and wasted it on wild living. Then, after he hit rock bottom, he was welcomed home by his father.

We will work through the fundamentals and open the beauty and the power of this beautiful teaching.

God loves us the way we are, but He also loves us too much to leave us that way. Because we are so valuable to Him, He wants each of us to spend eternity with Him.

Let’s study together!
